Utilize directories to effectively categorize your pages that share common characteristics. For instance, if your website includes a terms of service and a privacy policy, you might want to form a directory named \u201cLegal\u201d and incorporate distinct pages for your terms of service and privacy policy within that directory. Consequently, your URL configuration may resemble: www.yoursite.com\/legal\/terms-of-service<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Developing and managing directories<\/h2>\n

    You have the option to manage your pages within directories (also known as folders). You can establish nested directories \u2013 subfolders or subdirectories \u2013 for websites with a complex hierarchy (e.g., websites with information organized into multiple sublevels).\u00a0<\/p>\n

    To form a directory, access the Pages panel<\/strong> and select the New folder<\/strong> option.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Relocating directories<\/h3>\n

    To shift your directories to a different position, access the Pages panel<\/strong> and rearrange the folder by dragging it to the desired location in the page list.<\/p>\n

    Note:<\/strong> Moving pages or directories to another folder will necessitate a URL modification. Consequently, the old URLs will render a 404 error page. If you intend to have the old URLs redirect to the new location, you must implement 301 redirects.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    For easy navigation of the page list, you can collapse or expand directories by simply clicking on the directory name in the page list.<\/p>\n

    Managing directory configurations<\/h2>\n

    Within the directory settings<\/strong> panel, you can:\u00a0<\/p>\n

    • Place your directory under a main directory<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Define the title<\/strong> and slug<\/strong> of your directory<\/li>\n
    • Secure with a password<\/strong> all pages enclosed in that directory<\/li>\n
    • Erase an empty directory by selecting the \u201cdelete<\/strong>\u201d trash can icon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      Helpful tip:<\/strong> You can designate the main directory of a subdirectory within the directory settings panel or drag and drop pages or directories into a directory from the page list. Explore more about the Pages panel.\u00a0<\/h6>\n

      Note:<\/strong> Deleting a directory is only possible if it’s empty. If you wish to delete a directory containing nested pages and\/or directories, you must first relocate or remove all pages and directories within that directory.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
