Issuing Method

Reminder: This functionality is solely accessible to customers and partners of Webflow Enterprise, therefore, please reach out to our Enterprise department if you are interested in incorporating the issuing method on your website.

The issuing method provides enhanced transparency and authority when releasing your site, and can be effective in averting inadvertent alterations from being published on live production sites. It furnishes preliminary summaries of all modifications to the site prior to publication, and empowers you to publish straight from your Webflow test subdomain or customized test domain to your production domain.

Crucial: Besides other restrictions on Webflow publishing, you will be unable to employ the issuing method if you have Logic flows configured on your site.

Operation of the Issuing Method

The issuing method illustrates discrepancies between the Designer’s content and your test site, and discrepancies between your test site and your production site. It also provides the capability to publish directly from your test site to your production site.

There are three phases to the issuing method:

• Designer
• Test
• Production

Designer

The Designer segment of the issuing method presents a timestamp for the site’s most recent modification, a pre-publish summary of the site’s unpublished changes, and the authority to publish to: 

• Your Webflow test subdomain or customized test domain
• All domains, encompassing the Webflow test subdomain or your customized test domain
• The specific domains, via the “three disclosure dots”

Reminder: The pre-publish summary excludes adjustments to Site settings, except for modifications to custom code in the Custom code section.

Reminder: If your team utilizes a personalized test domain, that will be the default test domain you will publish to from the Designer segment of the issuing method.

The pre-publish summary showcases all site changes tracked in the Site Activity log along with the contributors of the modifications. You can select any of the activities to view that activity (or set of activities) in the Site Activity log.

Test

The Test section of the issuing method supplies a summary of the published alterations to your Webflow test subdomain or your customized test domain (along with the contributor of the changes), and the permission to publish these adjustments to production (i.e., launch the adjustments live to your personalized domains).

Once you have released your site’s alterations from the Designer segment to the Test segment, you can assess your site on the test subdomain/domain to ensure all functions correctly. Then, you can revert to the issuing method and tap Publish to production to initiate your alterations live on your customized domain(s).

Production

The Production segment of the issuing method demonstrates your customized domain(s) and their last publishing date. By tapping the “arrow” beside the personalized domain name, you can view your live site.

Additional Publishing Alternatives

If you prefer to access the traditional publishing alternatives instead of the issuing method, you can click the “three disclosure dots” next to Publish to test in the Designer segment, or publish from Site settings.

You can retract your site from Site settings (not from the Designer).
