Shift Content of CMS Collection to a Different Project

Move your CMS database from one project to another.

You have the option to move any CMS Collection from one project to another by utilizing the CMS export and import functionalities.

Exporting the collections

Within the Collections panel of the initial project, access the Collection you wish to transport to another project and click on export.

Step one on the left, click on the Blog Post CMS collection button. Step two on the right, select the Export button from the collection toolbar at the top.

Similarly, proceed to download all other Collections that require transferring to this new project. Find out more about exporting the content of a Collection.

Importing your collections

Within the target project:

  1. Access the Collections panel and initiate the creation of a new Collection
  2. Import the CSV file that was previously exported from the initial project
Step one on the left, click on the Blog Post CMS collection button. Step two on the right, click on the Import button from the collection toolbar at the top.
  1. Associate the fields from the CSV with the fields in your Collection, or generate new fields as necessary. When dealing with reference and multi-reference fields, initially create a plain text field. Get more insights on importing collections.
  2. If multiple Collections were exported, follow the same procedure to import them.
  3. Establish the reference and multi-reference fields within each of your collections. Subsequently, manually update these fields with the data that corresponds to the plain text field you established for these fields. Once done, you can eliminate the plain text fields from your collection.
Essential Information
In case your intended project does not have a site plan, you might need to include/upgrade your plan to import a CSV containing more than 50 Collection items. Review Collection item restrictions for each site plan.
