Restrictions on dynamic content

Dynamic content within Webflow enables us to include, modify, and bring in content at any time. Furthermore, every aspect of our design connected to this data is constructed and automatically updated. Equally important is the fine-grained control we have in producing and adjusting design components that utilize our dynamic content.

The Content Management System (CMS) enforces certain boundaries on the quantity of dynamic content we can integrate on a per-page basis. These restrictions enhance and uphold swift loading speeds for our projects and prevent the creation of sluggish loading projects.

In this instructional session:

  1. 20 collection list elements per page
  2. 100 entries per collection list
  3. 1 embedded collection list on each page
  4. 5 entries per embedded collection list

20 collection list elements per page

Collection lists are one of the two methods to include and design dynamic content using a CMS Collection or an E-commerce Collection. Collection lists can be introduced on any type of page. The alternate method to insert dynamic content involves Collection pages. Discover more about: CMS Collections

The maximum cap for Collection lists is 20 lists per page, aiding in the prompt loading of dynamic pages to ensure an exceptional end-user experience.

100 entries per collection list

To upkeep loading velocity, there exists a limit on the volume of Collection List entries per Collection List.

The maximum threshold is 100 items per Collection list unless pagination is activated. Learn how pagination can be utilized to showcase more than 100 items in a Collection list.

1 embedded collection list per page

Through embedded collections, you can display numerous referenced items for a catalog of blog posts utilizing nested collections. In this instance, the multi-reference Collection items could represent the authors for the blog post.

Within the Designer, to accomplish this task, simply drag one Collection List (the authors) into the other (the blog posts) — resulting in a ‘parent’ and ‘child’ collection.

5 entries per nested collection list

More information on utilizing Nest Collection lists can be found here.
